Rocky Mountain College JV Puts End to Pioneer Win Streak

Pioneers 2... Rocky Mountain JV 3 (25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 13-15)

The Rocky Mountain College JV volleyball team got some revenge on the MCC Pioneers on Wednesday night in Billings. Less than a month after losing to the Pioneers 3-1 in Miles City, the Battlin Bears rallied from a 0-2 deficit for a thrilling 5-game win over the Pioneers culminating in a 15-13 win in the decisive 5th game.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead and it looked like MCC would be back on the bus to head home quickly but the Bears had different ideas. The Bears won the next 3 games to snap the Pioneers 4-game winning streak and dropped MCC to 11-8 overall.

Taiya Guptill (Freshman - Hardin, MT) picked up 46 assists and 4 blocks in the match to lead MCC. Cameron Blevins (Sophomore - Hardin, MT) dug up 28 balls defensively to lead the Pioneer defense. Zeason Schaffer (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) had 21 kills and Mackenzie Deford (Freshman - Shields Valley, MT) had 3 service aces.

MCC will resume action on Tuesday night in Miles City, MT as they host North Dakota State College of Science for a MonDak Conference matchup at 7:00 PM. Billings Clinic is set to host the Pack the Place in Pink event.
