Match 1 - Pioneers 3... Colorado Northwestern 0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-19)
NJCAA Division II MCC Pioneer volleyball easily handled NJCAA Division I Colorado Northwestern on Saturday in Gillette, WY.
Zeason Schaffer (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) led a balanced offensive attack with 11 kills and Taiya Guptill (Freshman - Hardin, MT) picked up 19 assists. Kayla Jensen (Freshman - Lewistown, MT) led MCC with 2 service aces.
Defensively, Cameron Blevins (Sophomore - Shelby, MT) had 17 digs and Grace Gackle (Sophomore - Circle, MT) had 2 blocks.
Match 2 - Pioneers 0... Gillette College 3 (12-25, 9-25, 10-25)
Saturday's 2nd match was a flip of the script for the MCC Pioneer volleyball team. NJCAA Division I member Gillette College made short work of the Pioneers dominating the match from start to finish.
Angeline Reiner (Freshman - Fort Benton, MT) picked up 6 kills in the match and the setter combination of Taiya Guptill and Holland Stowe (Sophomore - Buffalo, WY) each had 7 assists. MCC had no aces in the match.
Guptill had 10 digs while Zeason Schaffer and Reiner each had 1 block.
The Pioneers are now 4-3 on the season and don't play again until they host Rocky Mountain College JV on Monday, September 8 at 6:00 PM.
