MCC Volleyball Splits Matches Friday in Gillette

Match #1 - Pioneers 3... Dawson 0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-23)

The MCC Pioneer volleyball squad split matches on Friday afternoon in Gillette, WY and defeated Dawson CC in game one 3-0. 

In a match that was dominated from start to finish by the Pioneers, Zeason Schaffer (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) connected on her 500th career kill and had a team high 9 for the match. Taiya Guptill (Freshman - Hardin, MT) led the Pioneers with 13 assists and Holland Stowe (Sophomore - Buffalo, WY) dished out 10 more. Guptill had 3 service aces as well. 

Defensively, Cameron Blevins (Sophomore - Shelby, MT) had 17 digs and Guptill contributed 12 more while Grace Gackle (Sophomore - Circle, MT) and Kayla Jensen (Freshman - Lewistown, MT) each had 2 blocks. 

 

Match 2 - Pioneers 2... Northwest College 3 (19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 7-15)

In a 5-set barnburner, Northwest College snuck past the MCC Pioneers 3-2 on Friday afternoon. 

Zeason Schaffer had 9 kills and Taiya Guptill had 7 kills. Guptill had 14 assists and Holland Stowe added 12 assists against her former team. Mia Mader (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) served up 4 aces. 

Defensively, Cameron Blevins had 16 digs and Guptill picked up 12 more. Johanna Limberhand (Freshman - Hardin, MT) and Angelina Reiner (Freshman - Fort Benton, MT) had 3 blocks. 

The Pioneers play Colorado Northwestern and Gillette College on Saturday in Gillette, WY.
