MCC Dominates Dickinson State JV in Home Opener

The MCC Pioneers dominated play from start to finish in a 3-0 over Dickinson State JV in the 2025 home opener at the Miles Community College Centra. 

MCC jumped out to a 8-2 lead in game 1 forcing DSU to call a quick timeout. That lead grew to 12-2 as the Pioneers scored 4 consecutive points out of the timeout. The Bluehawks chipped in to the Pioneer lead cutting it to 17-11 but it would not get any closer as MCC took game 1 25-14. 

The Bluehawks got off to a good start in game 2 and took a 14-11 lead midway thru the game. The Pioneers scored 6 of the next 8 points to take a 17-16 lead and force a DSU timeout. MCC scored 8 of the last 9 points in the game to take a 2-0 match lead with a 25-17 win.  

The Pioneers jumped on top of DSU 5-1 in the 3rd game and never looked back enroute to a 25-18 final score.  

MCC was led offensively by Zeason Schaffer (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) with 19 kills. She is now one short of 500 kills in her MCC Career. Taiya Guptill (Freshman - Hardin, MT) had 25 assists and Kayla Jensen (Freshman - Lewistown, MT) served up 8 aces in the match. 

Cameron Blevins (Sophomore - Shelby, MT) had 17 digs and Mia Mader (Sophomore - Broadus, MT) added 13 to help lead the Pioneer defense. Grace Gackle (Sophomore - Circle, MT) returned to action and contributed a team high 3 blocks. 

The Pioneers will travel to Gillette, WY for 4 matches over the weekend. MCC will play Dawson CC on Friday at 2:00 PM and then face Northwest College at 4:00 PM. On Saturday, MCC will face Colorado Northwestern CC and Gillette College.
