Pioneers Stay Hot; Run Winning Streak to 7 With Two Wins Sunday

The MCC Pioneer volleyball team ran it's winning streak to 7 games on Sunday with a pair of victories over Carroll College JV and Dawson CC.

The Pioneers made quick work of the Saints but had to pull thru in the 5th game against Dawson after seeing the Buccaneers rally from a 2-0 deficit to force a deciding 5th game. 

Pioneers 3... Carroll College JV 0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-17)

MCC defeated Carroll JV for the 3rd time this season as the Pioneers hosted a 3-team jamboree on Sunday afternoon. Zeason Schaffer (Broadus, MT) picked up 18 kills in the match and the Pioneers benefitted from 33 assists from Bailey Nowicki (Miles City, MT). Brylee Lowell (Columbus, MT) served up 3 aces in the win. Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) picked up 20 digs and Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) had 2 blocks defensively for the Pioneers. 

 

Pioneers 3... Dawson 2 (25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 24-26, 15-9)

For the 4th time this season, MCC defeated DCC to run its season high winning streak to 7 games on Sunday afternoon in Miles City. Kodiann Lynn picked up 21 kills and Zeason Schaffer was close behind with 20 kills of her own. Bailey Nowicki dished out 52 assists and Mia Mader (Broadus, MT) had a season high 6 service aces for MCC. 

Bree Swanson dug up 38 balls while Lynn and Schaffer each had 4 blocks. Setter Bailey Nowicki added 3 blocks. 

The Pioneers hit the road this week and play Tuesday night in Dickinson, ND against the Dickinson State JV at 7:00 and will then play their final ModDak Conference match of 2024 when they face Bismarck State in Bismarck on Wednesday night at 6:00 PM MDT. The Pioneers have already locked up the #3 seed in the MonDak Conference and #2 Region XIII West seed for the Region XIII Playoffs.
