Pioneers 3... Dickinson State JV 2 (25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10)
The MCC Pioneers may have been looking ahead to a big MonDak Conference matchup on Tuesday night in Williston, North Dakota. The popular "trap game" saw the Dickinson State JV come in to Miles City, MT and nearly upset the Pioneers.
MCC cruised thru game 1 with a 25-21 victory. The Pioneers looked to be in control of game 2 with a 19-11 lead but Dickinson State rallied to score 14 of the next 18 points to take game 2 23-25. The Bluehawks took that momemtum to game 3 and pulled that one out by the same 23-25 score.
The Pioneers took a quick 6-2 lead in game 4 but the Bluehawks once again scored 14 of the next 18 points to take a 10-16 lead and looked like they had the inside track to win the match. After a Pioneer timeout, MCC rallied to tie the score at 17-17 and MCC pulled out a tight game 4 by the score of 25-23.
MCC had control of game 5 from the start to win 15-10 and move their record to 6-5 on the season.
Offensively for the Pioneers, Zeason Schaffer (Broadus, MT) had 17 kills. Tehya Gallegos (Burns, WY) had 40 assists and Cameron Blevins (Shelby, MT) had 3 aces.
Defensively, Schaffer came up with 5 blocks and Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) had 25 digs.
MCC will be at Williston State on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM MST and at Dakota College - Bottineau on Wednesday night at 6:00 PM MST.
