Pioneers 3... Jamestown JV 2 (25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 20-18)

The 2023 Pioneer volleyball season kicked off with an exciting 5 set victory over the Jamestown College JV. After winning the 1st 2 sets and taking a 7-0 lead in set 3, the Pioneers took their foot off the gas pedal as Jamestown rallied to force a 5th set. Jamestown led 14-10 in the 5th and had several match point before the Pioneers rallied for the win. 

Leading the way offensively for MCC was Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) with 17 kills and Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) with 12. Maria Stewart (Billings, MT) dished out 48 assists and Jayda Southworth (Winifred, MT) had 2 service aces. Defensively, Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) with 24 digs and Egan with 18. Leah Champlin (Billings, MT) had 3 blocks. 

Pioneers 0... Dawson 3 (21-25, 22-25, 16-25)

Match 2 did not go nearly as well for the Pioneers as Dawson controlled the match from start to finish. Ashtynn Egan and Ruby Gray (Billings, MT) led the Pioneers with 6 kills each. Maria Stewart had 22 assists and Jayda Southworth had 3 aces. Bree Swanson had 13 digs and Ruby Gray had the lone block of the match.
