The Miles Community College Volleyball team hit the road for the quarterfinals of the Region XIII Playoffs and dominated the Dawson CC Bucs from start to finish in a resounding 3-0 victory to move the semifinal round. The Pioneers avenged a 5-set loss in Glendive just 11 days earlier and moved the Pioneers to the semifinal round and a match at Bismarck State College on Monday night. Set 1 was back and forth early and got tight late as the Pioneers prevailed 25-23. The set 1 win propelled MCC to a 25-19 win in set 2. With all the momentum in the hands of the Pioneers, they finished off the Buccaneers 25-19 in the 3rd game for the win.
The Pioneer offense started with setter Jacey Rowland as she had a season high 42 assists. Cassidy Acor was the benefactor of 13 of those assists with strong kills from the middle and Chloe Cota served up 2 aces. Defensively, Matilda Dietz anchored the back row with 26 digs and Sydney Johnstone had 2 blocks. The Pioneers moved to 11-13 on the season and will face the 16-3 Mystics of Bismarck State. The 19th ranked Mystics only losses of the season have come at the hands of the 14th ranked NDSCS Wildcats.
