For the 5th time this season, the MCC Pioneer Volleyball team dropped a match in 5 sets. This time the loss came on the road at the hands of Dawson CC. Dawson jumped ahead 2-0 on the heels of 25-18 and 25-23 wins. The Pioneers battled back to win the next 2 sets by the scores of 25-23 and 25-18. The 5th set has not been kind to MCC this year as they fall to 0-5 in 5-set matches dropping this one 15-11. The Pioneers now fall to 4th place in MonDak Conference play and are looking for a 3rd place finish in order to host a playoff game.
The offensive attack for the Pioneers was led by Jacey Rowland (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) with 32 assists and Angela Youngs (Gillette, WY) with 17 kills. Sydney Johnstone (Miles City, MT) served up 2 aces in the match and also had 3 blocks to lead on the defensive side of the net and Matilda Dietz (Manhattan, MT) had 26 digs. The Pioneers will jump out of conference on Thursday night with a trip to Billings to play MSU-Billings. They will wrap up their MonDak Conference regular season next Tuesday at Williston State followed by the final home match of 2021 against Bismarck State.
