Facing the 2nd night of back to back matches with Lake Region State College, the MCC Pioneers failed to take command of the match early and fell in 5 sets. The Pioneers started out slow dropping the first set 19-25 before evening up the match with a convincing 25-13 2nd set. The Royals turned the tides again in set 3 taking it 22-25. The Pioneers dominated set 4 25-17 setting up the climactic 5th set. The Royals took the early advantage and held on for and 11-15 win.
Matilda Dietz (Manhattan, MT) had 32 digs while Cassidy Acor (Havre, MT) had 5 kills to lead the Pioneers defensive efforts. Celsa Castro (Roundup, MT) had 20 assists with may of those going to Angela Youngs (Gillette, WY) and her 22 kills. Youngs also had 2 serving aces. The Pioneers dropped to 7-7 in MonDak Conference play and still sit in 3rd place.
Next up for the Pioneers is a home match on Saturday at 3:00 PM against the nationally ranked and conference leading NDSCS Wildcats.
