A day after being swept, the Dakota College-Bottineau Lumberjacks exacted some revenge of the Pioneers by rallying from a 2-1 deficit to win an exciting 5 game thriller. The 5-game victory for DCB was its 2nd such win against the Pioneers this season. Earlier this season in Miles City, DCB rallied from an 0-2 deficit to win 3-2. MCC swept DCB on Friday and it looked like it might be much of the same after the Pioneers dominated game 1 25-15. Game 2 was a back and forth affair that saw DCB rally late and squeak out a 25-27 win to even the match at 1-1. MCC took command of game 3 early and held on for a 25-21 win. DCB the dominated game 4 17-25 to set up the dramatic 5th game. Game 5 was close throughout with multiple ties and lead changes until DCB edged out the Pioneers 13-15.
Jacey Rowland (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) set up the Pioneer offensive attack on the day with 29 assists. Angela Youngs (Gillette, WY) was the benefactor of several of those assists with 14 kills. Sydney Johnstone (Miles City, MT) served up 4 aces while the Pioneer defense was led by Matilda Dietz (Manhattan, MT) with 24 digs and Nadja Gale (Sheridan, WY) with 4.5 blocks.
