Poor Shooting Night for Pioneers Leads to Lake Region State Victory

The MCC Pioneer women's basketball team hit a mere 2-27 from the 3-point line and shot only 31% from the field on Sunday afternoon in Devils Lake, ND as Lake Region State pulled away in the 2nd half for a 76-58 MonDak Conference victory. 

The Royals were led by Nicole Lillard (Sophomore - Champlin, MN) scoring 23 points (6-14 FG, 3-5 3's, 8-9 FT) and grabbing 9 rebounds as the Royals moved to 6-2 in MonDak Conference play and 13-11 overall. The Royals had just 7 players in uniform for the game. Sydney Schwabe (Freshman - Thompson, ND) had a double-double with 13 points (4-17 FG, 2-10 3's, 3-4 FT) to go along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Kiara Holweger (Sophomore - Grand Forks, ND) had 8 points and a game high 13 rebounds. 

The Pioneers wwere led in scoring by Jessica Makayabo (Sophomore - Eastlake, TX) with 19 points (9-17 FG, 0-4 3's, 1-2 FT) and 8 rebounds. Lainey Smith (Sophomore - Miles City, MT) had 11 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3's, 2-3 FT) and 9 rebounds and Tyla Scorah (Freshman - Australia) had 11 points (3-14 FG, 1-6 3's, 4-5 FT) and 8 rebounds.
