The Miles CC Lady Pioneers hung with the 18th ranked Casper T-Birds all night long but couldn't get over the hump in the end of a 69-60 T-Bird victory at the MCC Centra.
Natalia Otkhmezuri scored 21 points and had 8 rebounds and Marija Bakic tallied 19 for the 8-1 T-Birds. Both teams struggled shooting as Casper shot 33% on the game and MCC connected on only 30% of it's field goal attempts and 23% from 3-point range.
Binta Salawu (Sydney, Australia) led MCC with 19 points and 4 steals and Lili Long (Melbourne, Australia) was the only other Pioneer in double figures with 11 points. Olyvia Pachecho (Rawlins, WY) had 9 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pioneers to a 48-43 edge on the boards. The Pioneers closed what was a 16 point deficit to 4 points in the 4th quarter but Casper used timely baskets and free throws to fend of the Pioneer rally.
The Pioneers will be back at it Friday in Williston, ND when they face Gillette College at 12:30 PM in the Williston Thanksgiving Classic.
