Shea Moreno Named Pioneer Head Softball Coach

Shea Moreno Named Pioneer Head Softball Coach

The Miles Community College athletic department has announced that Shea Moreno has been named as the new head softball coach. Moreno will take the program over for the 2026-27 school year. Athletic Director Jerry Olson is the interim head coach for the 2025-26 season.

Moreno had a decorated career as a player and will bring her softball expertise to Pioneer softball. Moreno was the 2018 Sacramento Bee Player of the Year and the 2021 NJCAA Division 1 Player of the Year at Seminole State in Oklahoma. She began her playing career at UCLA and then with the pandemic she transferred to Seminole State. After her time at Seminole State, she finished her playing career at Mississippi State where she was on the Bulldog Honor Roll, Southeastern Conference Honor Roll, and was on the SEC Career Tour.

Moreno began her coaching career by volunteering with several youth programs in the Sacramento area, including Elk Grove Little League, Oak Park Little League, and Airport Little League throughout high school and during visits home for college breaks.

From 2016–2018, I served as Youth Liaison for Lady Legendz Softball, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research and providing annual Girls in Softball sponsorships for young athletes across the Sacramento region.

Moreno assisted at Lyndsey Klein Softball Academy in Lincoln, California, where her mentor Lyndsey Klein played a significant role in shaping her coaching philosophy and transition into leadership within the sport.

She currently serves on the coaching staff at Florin High School in Sacramento. The program recently celebrated a 22–11 home-opener victory—our team's first in eight years—as the coaching staff and student-athletes continue building a competitive, positive program the school and community can be proud of.

"I'm incredibly grateful and excited to become the Head Softball Coach at Miles Community College. We're building more than a program...we're building a culture of excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in our community. The future is bright, and I'm excited for everything we'll achieve together." said Moreno.

"We are very excited to welcome Shea as our new Head Softball Coach. She played at the highest levels from AAU through her time in the SEC. Her knowledge and the ability to relay her knowledge and experiences to her students athletes will make her a great Coach." said Athletic Director Jerry Olson.
