Game 1 - Pioneers 1... St. Cloud Technical College 12 (5 Innings)
Nothing seemed to go right on Sunday morning in Cocoa Beach, FL for the MCC Pioneer softball team. The Pioneers mustered up only 5 hits and St. Cloud Technical College took advantage of 9 walks in a 12-1 St. Cloud victory.
St. Cloud struck in the bottom of the 1st inning with 2 runs and the Cyclones held the Pioneers scoreless thru 3 innings to take command of the game. The Cyclones then scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning to take a 7-0 lead.
MCC scored their only run of the game in the top of the 4th after Emily Robins (CF - Rexburg, ID) doubled and Brooke Schaffer (3B - Missoula, MT) singled to put runners on the corners. Adrie Mortensen (C - Rexburg, ID) hit a sacrifice fly RBI and that was the extent of the Pioneer offense. Schaffer was the only Pioneer with 2 hits.
Kayla Jensen (Lewistown, MT) got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 4 innings (5 H, 12 R, 7 ER, 9 BB, 3 SO) and took the loss.

In a preview of MonDak Conference softball action in Florida, the MCC Pioneers eased past the Williston State Tetons 9-1 on Sunday afternoon to salvage a split on the day.
Brylee Lowell (CF - Columbus, MT) and Sydney Goldbar (2B - Missoula, MT) each hit home runs and Harley Brown (Great Falls, MT) posted an impressive start in the circle to lead the Pioneers to the 5 inning victory. Brown pitched a complete game 5 innings and gave up 5 hits, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO)
The Pioneers tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd inning on Goldbar's solo home run.
Williston State scored the games 1st run in the 2nd inning and it was all Pioneers from that point on. The Pioneers tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd inning on Goldbar's solo home run. The Pioneers took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a RBI double off the bat of Paityn Ralphs (1B - Ammon, ID) after a Lowell single. Addison Sanders (3B - Idaho Falls, ID) made it back to back doubles that drove in Ralphs. Sanders was thrown out trying to extend the hit to a triple. Rylynn Krein (DP - Fergus Falls, MN) made it 3 doubles in a row and Brooke Schaffer (SS - Missoula, MT) followed with a RBI single.
MCC got 2 more in the bottom of the 4th highlighted by a RBI single from Sanders. The game ended in the 5th inning when Lowell smacked a 3-run home run.
