Game 1 - Pioneers 6... Lake Region State 5
A day after scoring 23 runs, the Pioneer bats had a tough time waking up on Sunday. The Pioneers only had 5 hits in game 1 but did just enough to pull out a 6-5 win in game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against Lake Region State College.
Lake Region got on the board 1st with a run in the top of the 1st and followed that with another in the top of the 2nd to grab a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd by scoring 3 runs on only 1 hit. MCC walked 3 times and took advantage of a LRSC error as well as a passed ball. MCC made it 4-2 with another run in the bottom of the 3rd after Addison Sanders (3B - Idaho Falls, ID) singled, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a passed ball, and then scored on a ground out by Lily Bolin (1B - Belgrade, MT).
The Pioneers went ahead 5-2 in the 5th inning on a solo blast by Sanders. Lake Region added a run in the 6th to cut the lead to 5-3 but the Pioneers got that run back in the bottom of the 6th after a Malory Webb (SS - Idaho Falls, ID) singled and stole 2nd. She then scored on a RBI single from Arin Eaton (CF - Belgrade, MT).
Lake Region scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning to cut the lead to 6-5 and had the bases loaded. Rylynn Krein (Fergus Falls, MN) came in to the game in the pitching circle and struck out the Royal batter for the final out.
Sanders was 2-3 at the plate with a RBI and 3 runs scored.
Rian Ferriter got the start for the Pioneers and pitched 6.2 innings (10 H, 5 R, 6 BB, 3 SO).

Game 2 was going much like game 1 as the Pioneers were struggling at the plate and took a 3-2 lead to the bottom of the 4th. That 4th inning was quite a memory for the Pioneer softball team.
MCC plated 16 runs on 15 hits in the 4th inning that included 9 singles, 6 doubles, and 2 Lake Region State College errors.
8 out of the 9 Pioneer batters recorded multiple hits in the game. Brooke Richardson (1B - Helena, MT) and Rylynn Krein each had 3 hits. Malory Webb, Khloey Robinson (LF - Belgrade, MT), Addison Sanders, Adrie Mortensen (C - Rexburg, ID), Brylee Lowell (CF - Columbus, MT), and Rhanda Vindiola (RF - Billings, MT) all recorded 2 hits.
Sanders had 4 RBI, Lowell had 3, and Richardson/Webb each had 2 RBI.
Arin Eaton got the start in the circle and pitched a complete game 5 innings (H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 SO).
