Game 3 - MCC 11... Lake Region State 3
3B Olivia Cook took advantage of cold weather conditions by heating up the Pioneer dugout by hitting 2 home runs and driving in 6 RBI. Cook finished the day 2-4 and also scored 3 times. CF Autumn Porter was 3-4 with a double, triple, and 3 runs scored. LF Taylor Woolley cracked a 3-run blast in the bottom of the 5th inning to stretch the Pioneer lead to 8-3. 2B Abby Johnson was 2-4 with 2 runs scored as well. 1B Hazel Eaton and RF Ashlin Hiller each had RBI singles as well.
Kassidy Kinzie went the distance in the circle by giving up 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. She struck out 3 and walked only 1 batter.
Game 4 - MCC 7... Lake Region State 7
In a game that saw early fireworks by both teams on offense, the cold weather of Northern North Dakota took over and the game was called a 7-7 tie after 4 innings.
LRSC struck early with 4 runs in top of the 1st inning but the Pioneers rallied with 6 in the bottom half of the inning. Autumn Porter had a sacrifice fly RBI and later scored on an error by the Royals RF. Olivia Cook then scored on an error off a ground ball by Megan Toplovich. Pitcher Kelealani Waiau then had a big 3-run blast to close out the first inning.
LRSC then rallied for 3 more runs in the top of 2nd inning to take a 7-6 lead. Waiau then doubled in Samantha Burke with the tying run in the bottom of the 3rd. Neither team scored in the 4th inning and the game was called a tie.
Kelealani Waiau pitched for the Pioneers and gave up 7 runs on 6 hits. She struck out only 1 Royal and walked 1 as well. The Pioneers are now 13-12-1 on the season and 10-5-1. They are scheduled to play Monday afternoon at Williston State in a make up game for earlier in season.
