Dawson Sweeps Pioneers in Miles City

Dawson Sweeps Pioneers in Miles City

Game 1 - MCC 1... Dawson 3 (8 Innings)

A tremendous pitcher's duel turned south quickly in the 8th inning as Buccaneer Deven Creech hit a 2-run blast in the top of the 8th to give Dawson a 3-1 win and take over 1st place in MonDak Conference play.

The Pioneers could not heat up the bats after a 3 week layoff between games and mustered up only 3 hits in 8 innings. Dawson starter Shelby Martin pitched 8 innings and struck out 11 Pioneers. Pioneer pitcher Kassidy Kinzie was up to the task as well giving up only 4 hits and striking out 7 but gave up a long ball in the 6th and the game winning HR in the 8th.

The Pioneers only run came on an RBI single by 1B Hazel Eaton in the 5th inning.

Game 2 - MCC 3... Dawson 13

Dawson Catcher Maycen O'Neal went 3-4 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI to lead Dawson to a doubleheader sweep of MCC and sole possession of 1st place in the MonDak Conference. Shelby Martin and Deven Creech also went deep as the Buccaneers slugged 5 home runs and kept the Pioneer bat in check for the 2nd straight game.

Miles mustered up only 3 hits off of Creech as 3B Olivia Cook provided the early offense with a 2-run home run in the 2nd inning but the Dawson bats helped the Buccaneers pull away after that. Abby Johnson and Taylor Woolley had the only other hits in the game as Creech struck out 7 Pioneers in the game.

Dawson roughed up the Pioneer pitching staff by striping 14 hits for their 13 runs and also walking 8 times.

The teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon in Glendive for a pair of games starting at 1:00 PM. Miles fell to 8-2 in MonDak Conference play and 11-9 overall while Dawson is now 14-0 in conference play and 22-4 overall.
