Game 1 - Pioneers 11... Lamar 8
Miles Community College scored 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning to rally from a 2-run deficit and leftfielder Taylor Woolley (Rathdrum, ID) robbed Lamar of a potential game tying home run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th and the Pioneers defeated Lamar Community College 11-8 on Wednesday. Centerfielder Autumn Porter (Miles City, MT) led the charge at the plate by going 3-for-4 with 5 RBI. Porter drove in runs on a double in the 1st, a single in the 5th, a single in the 6th, and a double in the 7th. Rightfieder Tessa Della Silva (Hamilton, MT) was also 3-4 at the plate and had 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. Hazel Eaton (Belgrade, MT) was 2-4 and also had a double in the game.
Lamar scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th and looked to be in control until the Pioneers 7th inning heroics. Kassidy Kinzie (Plains, MT) led things off in the circle for the Pioneers lasting 6 1/3 innings, allowing 8 hits and 7 runs while striking out 6. Raegan Harper (Billings, MT) finished out the game going 2/3 inning and giving up 2 hits and 1 run.
Game 2 - Pioneers 6... Lamar 10
The fortunes were turned in game 2 on Wednesday as Miles CC led Lamar 6-1 going to the bottom of the 4th inning. Lamar then scored 4 in the 4th and 5 in the 5th to split the doubleheader and win game 2 by the score of 10-6. At the plate for the Pioneers, Hazel Eaton cracked a home run in the 3rd inning and went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Taylor Woolley was 3-4 with and RBI and a run scored. The were the only Pioneers with multiple hits on the game. The Pioneers collected 13 hits but could only push across 6 runs as they struck out 12 times.
Kelealani Waiau (Puget Sound, WA) started for the Pioneers in the circle and gave up 5 runs on 5 hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. Hazel Eaton gave up 4 runs on 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning. Harper gave up 4 hits and a run in her inning of work.
The Pioneers will head to Trinidad, Colorado for a doubleheader against Trinidad State Junior College Thursday at 1:00 and 3:00 PM MST.
