Pioneer Rodeo Season Comes to Close; LaPierre and Menzel Qualify for CNFR

The MCC Pioneer Rodeo Team had it's final event of the season last weekend at the University of Montana rodeo in Missoula, MT. 

Weston LaPierre (Tie Down Roping - Killdeer, ND) spearheaded the Pioneer efforts for the weekend by winning the Tie Down Roping event and in turn moved his way in to 2nd place for the season and a spot at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, WY. LaPierre finished 2nd place in the Long Go with a time of 11.0 seconds. He then won the Short Go with a time of 10.6 seconds for a total time of 21.6. That was worth 170 team points. 

Jaxon Campbell (Bareback Riding - Strathmore, Alberta) came up with a 2nd place finished in the Long Go with a score of 28. That also earned him 2nd place in the average and 100 team points. The Pioneer men finished in 4th place. 

On the women's side, Billi Fortier (Breakaway Roping - Wildrose, ND) won the Long Go for Breakaway Roping with a time of 2.4 seconds. She didn't catch in the Short Go but was still able to finish in 6th place for the average. Fortier scored 70 points for the women's team. 

Josie Menzel (Goat Tying - Philip, SD) qualifed for the CNFR by finishing in 3rd place  in the Big Sky Region for the season with 588 points. 

LaPierre totaled 672 points for the season for a 2nd place finish in the Big Sky Region.

The Pioneer men ended the 2025-26 rodeo season with 1,328 points (4th place) and the women scored 987 points (4th place). 

Jaxon Campbell finished the Bareback season in 4th place with 286 points. Korbin Baldwin (Bull Riding - Whitefish, MT) finished in a tie for 6th place with 150 points. 

Billi Fortier ended the season in 8th place for Breakaway Roping with 170 points. 

LaPierre and Menzel will head to he College National Finals Rodeo at the Ford Center in Casper, WY from June 14-20.
