Rodeo #1 (April 9-10)
The Miles CC Rodeo team strung together some solid individual performances as the spring rodeo season got underway in Bozeman, MT from April 9-12. The MSU rodeo team hosted 2 rodeos over the weekend as individuals gear up to try and qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.
The Pioneer women's team finished in 4th place by scoring 85 team points. Josie Menzel (Philip, SD) had a strong performance in rodeo one and strengthened her chances of qualifying for the CNFR. Menzel finished in 3rd place in the long go (6.4 seconds) and 6th place for the short go in goat tying. Menzel's performance were the only points for MCC in the rodeo. Montana State also won the women's side with 760 points.
Mia Mader (Broadus, MT) teamed up with Gus Lee (Choteau, MT) for a 3rd place finish in team roping for the long go with a time of 9.8 seconds. This finish landed the duo in 4th place for the average standings.
Jaxon Campbell (Strathmore, Alberta) finished in 4th place at the long go with a score of 52. Campbell finished 4th in the overall as well.
The Pioneer men, who have only 4 participants this spring, scored 130 points to finish in 5th place. Montana State won the men's rodeo with 950 points.
Rodeo #2 (April 11-12)
Macey Freemantle (Kamloops, British Columbia) was the only Pioneer to score points in Rodeo #2.
Freemantle finished in 3rd place in the long go (Breakaway Roping) with a time of 2.0 seconds and that time held up for a 4th place finish in the average.
Next up for Pioneer rodeo is a trip to Havre, MT for the MSU-Northern rodeo on April 17-18.
