The MCC Pioneer Rodeo teams showed some strong improvement on the 2nd weekend of the fall rodeo rotation. The Pioneers traveled to Glendive for the Dawson CC Rodeo and both teams finished in 5th place.
The Pioneer men's team finished in 5th place with 165 points on the weekend.
Rope Roghair (Isabel, SD) led the charge for the Pioneer men as he finished in 7th place in All-Around for the event. In Saddle Bronc, Roghair earned 2nd place in the 2nd round with a ride of 65 points. He did not have a score in the 1st round and finished in a tie for 5th in the event. He then teamed up with Travis Storm (Meadow, SD) in team roping for a 5th place finish after scoring 11.5 in the long round but had no time in the short round. Gus Lee (Choteau, MT) finished 8th place in Steer Wrestling after a 9th place performance (8.5) in long round and then a 12.5 in short round for a 5th place spot in that round.
Clancy Hornberger (Blaisdell, ND) ws the only Pioneer female to score points with a 7th place finish in Breakaway Roping. She was 5th in the long round with a 3.0 time but did not have a time in the short round. Taylor Burgee (Onida, SD) finished 10th in the same event with a 3.6 in the long round and no time in the short round.
Coach La Cross on the Pioneers: "Overall, a much better weekend than our performance in Cody. All of the team performed much better and were much more relaxed. Most of the girls had some good runs in the breakaway, but just fell short of making the short round."
The Pioneers are off this weekend and then head to Dillon on September 27-28 for the final rodeo of the fall season.
