The Pioneers trailed the Lumberjacks early in the contest by 6 points with 14:00 remaining in the 1st half. After a slow start shooting, the Pioneers used some timely shooting and some fast break baskets to gain a 48-44 lead at halftime. The home team came out hot to start the 2nd half by going on a 13-0 run to start the half building a 61-44 lead. The Lumberjacks tried to get back in the game but every run was squelched by the balanced effort of the Pioneers.

Shad Boyce (6'8 Freshman - Winifred, MT) had a double double with 14 points (5-7 FG, 4-5 FT) to go along with 11 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Uwami Chongo (6'8 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) scored 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3's) with 5 rebounds.
MCC got strong efforts off the bench from Josh Gosar (6'1 Freshman - Pinedale, WY) with 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-4 3's, 4-4 FT) and 4 steals while Randy Otieno (6'6 Sophomore - Calgary, Alberta) had 10 points (2-6 FG, 0-3 3's, 6-6 FT).
