Pioneers 75... Dawson CC 115

Dawson Community College ran roughshed over the Miles CC Pioneers in the championship game of the MonDak Conference Tipoff Tournament as the Buccaneers eased past the Pioneers 115-75 on Sunday night at 4 Bears Event Center in New Town, ND. This was the 2nd year in a row the two teams have played in the tipoff final with Dawson winning both meetings. 

Hot 1st half shooting for the Buccaneers combined with poor shooting and 15 turnovers by the Pioneers saw the Bucs take a 63-40 lead to the halftime break and they never looked back. 

For the Pioneers, Azenio Cossa (6'3 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) led the way with 22 points (9-17 FG, 0-3 3's, 4-5 FT) and 7 rebounds. Uwami Chongo (6'8 Sophomore - Maputo, Mozambique) added 11 points (4-4 FG, 1-1 3's, 2-2 FT) and Jace Hill (6'1 Sophomore - Columbia Falls, MT) added 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3's) and 6 rebounds. Shad Boyce (6'8 Freshman - Winifred, MT) had a team high 8 rebounds for MCC.

• The Pioneers shot 24-67 (36%) from the field and 7-28 (25%) from the 3-point line. MCC was 20-22 at the free throw line. 
• The Buccaneers shot 45-84 (54%) from the field and 11-25 (44%) from the 3-point line. DCC was 14-25 at the free throw line. 
• The Pioneers outrebounded the Bucs 45-39. MCC had 17 offensive rebounds and DCC had 15. 
• MCC had 29 turnovers and DCC had 10. 

The Pioneers will play their 1st home game of the season on Thursday night as they host Eastern Wyoming at 7:00 PM MST.
