Six MCC Pioneer players scored in double figures as the Pioneers held on in a hard fought contest 87-83 on Sunday afternoon in Miles City, MT. 

Neither team led by more than 8 points during a game that featured 4 ties and 7 lead changes. 

Frontline players Mack Page (Sophomore - Worland, WY) (5-7 FG, 0-1 3's, 3-3 FT) and Koak Kok (Sophomore - Ulang, South Sudan) (6-11 FG, 1-2 FT) scored 13 points each and the Pioneers got 12 points apiece off the bench from Donnie Haney (Freshman - Baton Rouge, LA) (4-7 FG, 4-5 3's) and Azenio Cossa (Freshman - Maputo, Mozambique) (3-9 FG, 0-2 3's, 6-6 FT). The Pioneer bench produced 39 points providing a big spark in the victory. Haney had 6 rebounds and Cossa had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Page had a team high 5 assists. 

Yohandry Ortiz (Freshman - Naples, FL) added 11 points (5-14 FG, 1-6 3's) and 8 rebounds while Isaiah Beauchamp (Freshman - Toledo, OH) finished with 10 points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3's, 2-2 FT). Colton Hawkins (Sophomore - Pueblo, CO) had 8 rebounds as well. 

United Tribes got 18 points (5-10 FG, 4-8 3's, 4-6 FT) from Houston Davis (Belcourt, ND) and 16 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3's, 1-1 FT) and 7 rebounds from Mark Fassett (Sophomore - St. Michael, ND). Caleb Cole (Freshman - Colstrip, MT) had 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-6 3's) and Jacolby Pearson (Sophomore - Fort Totten, ND) had a team high 9 rebounds. UTTC is 5-4 in MonDak Conference play and 10-13 overall.

  • The T-Birds shot 31-77 (40%) from the field and 14-40 from the 3-point line. UTTC was 7-12 from the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers outrebounded the T-Birds 48-35. UTTC had 9 offensive rebounds and MCC had 11. 
  • UTTC had 10 turnovers and MCC had 13. 

The Thunderbirds fell to 5-4 in MonDak Conference play and 10-13 overall. 

The Pioneers moved to 4-6 in MonDak Conference play and 12-14 overall. MCC will host Bismarck State on Monday night at 7:30 PM in the MCC Centra. The game is sophmore night and MCC will recognize 4 sophomore players.
