Pioneers 95... Dakota College at Bottineau 71

Four Pioneers scored in double figures and the Pioneers pulled away from a 44-38 halftime lead with a dominant 2nd half and snapped a 6-game losing streak with a 95-71 win over Dakota College on Monday night in Miles City, MT. 

There were 4 ties and 5 lead changes in a back and forth 1st half with the Lumberjacks taking a 5-point lead 6 minutes in to the game. The Pioneers, who suited up only 7 players for the contest, quickly reeled in the Lumberjacks before building a 28-point lead with 5:00 to play in the game. 

Yohandry Ortiz (Freshman - Naples, FL) had 25 points (7-17 FG, 3-4 3's, 8-8 FT) and 5 rebounds to lead a balanced Pioneer attack. Mack Page (Sophomore - Worland, WY) added 23 points (9-13 FG, 2-4 3's, 3-4 FT) and 5 rebounds while Isaiah Beauchamp (Freshman - Toledo, OH) sparked MCC with 17 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3's, 3-4 FT), 10 assists, and 5 steals in the game. Jace Hill (Freshman - Columbia Falls, MT) netted 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-6 3's) to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Colton Hawkins (Sophomore - Pueblo, CO) led MCC in rebounds with 8.

Bottineau got 16 points (7-15 FG, 2-5 3's) from Jalen Blanchard (Sophomore - Gold Coast, Aus) and 13 (5-13 FG, 3-6 3's, 0-2 FT) from Phil Gibaut (SO - Burnbury, Aus). Shawn Armstrong (Sophomore - Melbourne, Aus) and Edward Lual (Perth, Aus) accounted for 10 points each.

• The Pioneers connected on 32-63 (51%) field goals and 12-26 from the 3-point line. MCC hit 19-25 at the free throw line. 
• The Lumberjacks hit 27-67 (40%) from the field and 8-25 from the 3-point line. DCB was 9-13 at the free throw line. 
• Bottineau outrebounded Miles 36-34. DCB had 11 offensive boards to just 6 for the Pioneers. 
• MCC committed 10 turnovers and DCB had 18.

Bottineau fell to 1-6 in MonDak Conference play and 14-9 overall. The Pioneers improved to 2-5 in league play and 10-13 overall. MCC hits the road next weekend for a Sunday afternoon game in Devils Lake, ND at 2:00 PM MST.
