Dawson Makes Late Run to Defeat Pioneers

Dawson Community College outscored the Miles CC Pioneers 23-12 over the last 6 minutes breaking open a 1-point lead enrout to a 91-79 MonDak Conference win on Monday night in Miles City. A balanced DCC attack led by Cordell Stinson (Abilene, TX) with 18 points (8-12 FG, 1-2 3's, 1-2 FT) and 10 rebounds led the Buccaneers to a 6-1 overall record and 5-1 in the MonDak Conference. 

The game saw 12 lead changes and 4 ties as the Pioneers led 45-44 at halftime. With the game hanging in the balance and Dawson leading 68-67 with just over 6 minutes to go the Pioneers had back to back turnovers that turned into a 72-67 Pioneer deficit that they would not recover from. Reggie Martin (Vivian, LA) scored 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-3 3's) to join Kose Egbule (Houston, TX) with 15 points (3-14 FG, 1-4 3's, 8-12 FT). DeAngelo Horn (Aurora, CO) chipped in 12 points (5-7 FG, 2-5 FT). Egbule added 8 rebounds and Horn 6 as the Buccaneers forced 22 Pioneer turnovers (12 in 2nd half).

The Pioneers got 22 points (9-16 FG, 4-9 3's, 0-1 FT) off the bench from Tvon Jones (Philadelphia, PA) before he fouled out with just over 6 minutes to play. Blessing Adesipe (Houston, TX) scored 16 points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3's, 8-10 FT) and grabbed a team high 9 rebounds. Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, NV) had 13 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3's, 1-1 FT) and 6 rebounds as he also fouled out with roughly 3 minutes remaining. Paul Gakmar (Perth, Australia), Kaleb Naylor (Zion, IL), and Eli Habighorst (Las Vegas, NV) all had 6 rebounds as the Pioneers outrebounded the Bucs 46-42. Habighorst had 5 assists as well. 

Dawson shot 32-77 (41%) from the field and 7-30 (23%) from the 3-point line and connected on 20-35 FT (57%). The Pioneers were 27-57 (47%) from the field, 6-20 (30%) from the 3-point line, and 19-27 (70%) from the FT line. Dawson committed only 10 turnovers. 

The Pioneers fell to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in MonDak Conference play and will host Region IX Northwest College on Thursday night at 7:00 PM MST.
