Williston State hit a 3-point field goal at the end of regulation to force overtime and edged the Pioneers 85-83 in the extra session. The Pioneers rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to take a multiple 2nd half leads but could not hang on to the victory.
Williston State outrebounded MCC 50-38 for the game but the Pioneers forced 25 Teton turnovers to offset that advantage. MCC shot 13-38 in the first half for only 34% and the Tetons shot 51%. MCC picked up the pace after halftime at a 45% clip but only shot 37% for the game hitting only 5-20 from the 3-point line.
The Pioneers were led in scoring by Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, NV) with 19 points (9-20 FG, 1-4 3's, 0-2 FT) while Paul Gakmar (Perth, Australia) and Blessing Adesipe (Houston, TX) each had 17. Gakmar (6-11 FG, 5-5 FT) also had 6 rebounds while Adesipe (5-11 FG, 2-5 3's, 5-8 FT) had 4 rebounds. Eli Habighorst (Las Vegas, NV) contributed 13 points (5-12 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-3 FT) and had 8 assists.
Abi Adedo had 25 points (9-13 FG, 7-8 FT) and 15 rebounds for Williston State. The Pioneers will face United Tribes tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM MST in a losers bracket game.
