The MCC Pioneers rallied from a 3-run deficit by scoring 5 runs in the 4th inning and 3 more in the 6th after the Lake Region State College Royals had tied the game 5-5 and the 14th ranked Pioneers escaped with a 8-5 win and put a strangle hold on another MonDak Conference Championship.
The Pioneers managed only 6 hits in the contest compared to 12 for LRSC but collected 5 walks and scored on some timely hits. The Pioneers scored 1st run of the game as CF Jake Lacey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. 3B Tim Holyk then scored on a wild pitch and DH Clay Prell came up big with a 2 RBI single. SS Brayden Howard then singled in Ian Krump to give the Pioneers a 5-3 lead.
In the bottom of the 6th, 2B Cade Stuff singled in Ian Krump and 1B Dawson Parry followed that up with another RBI single scoring Howard and Stuff scored on a wild pitch to close out the scoring for MCC. Dawson Parry was the only Pioneer with multiple hits going 2-4 including a double. LF Ian Krump reached base 3 times via walk.
Grayson Skinner got the start on the mound going 3 innings and giving up 6 hits and 2 runs. He walked 2 Royals and struck out 4. Dylan Rydalch came in to go 3 1/3 innings and gave up 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 5. Anthony Bleggi finished out the last 2/3 inning by striking out 2 and allowing a hit.
The Pioneers can clinch another MonDak Conference title with a win in Glendive on Wednesday. The 2 teams will play a doubleheader to close out the regular season for the Pioneers. The Pioneers are 37-11 overall and 19-2 in conference play.
