Pioneers Salvage Last Game of Weekend Series

Pioneers Salvage Last Game of Weekend Series

Game 1 - Pioneers 2... Western Nebraska 7

Western Nebraska scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back using strong pitching to hold MCC to 4 hits in a 7-2 win in game 1 Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers had 4 singles and plated 2 runners in the bottom of the 6th inning to avoid the shutout. Cade Stuff (Great Falls, MT), Dawson Parry (American Fork, UT), Ian Krump (Rapid City, SD), and Hunter Lasko (Salt Lake City, UT) had singles in the game. Western Nebraska pitchers struck out 8 Pioneer batters in the game and only surrendered 3 walks.

Anthony Bleggi (Driggs, ID) got the start for MCC going 5 innings and giving up 8 hits and 5 runs. Bleggi struck out 8 Cougars and did not allow a walk. Dylan Rydalch finished off the game going 2 innings and giving up 2 hits and 2 runs.

Game 2 - Pioneers 8... Western Nebraska 0

Jett Hasegawa (Brisbane, Australia) pitched a gem in the last game of the weekend series to give the Pioneers a win they desperately needed after dropping the first 3 games of the series. Hasegawa pitched a complete game 3-hitter while striking out 5 Cougars and allowing only 3 walks. Hasegawa allowed 2 doubles and a single but squelched any chance of a Cougar rally with timely outs.

Mason Flanary (Rexburg, ID) hit a 3 run blast and Deklan Harper (Laurel, MT) went 3-3 with a triple and 2 RBI to lead the Pioneer bats. Dawson Parry doubled in a run and Hunter Lasko was 2-4 with an RBI and also scored twice.

The Pioneers will travel to Watford City, ND next weekend for a pair of non-conference doubleheaders with Williston State.
