MCC Basketball Adds a Pair

(Miles City) – Miles Community College head men’s basketball coach Chase Tait has announced the signing of Chris Kurokawa (Wolf Point) and Kyle Hansen (Phoenix) for the 2010-11 basketball season.

Kurokawa, a 6-4 wing is transferring to MCC after playing baseball at Jamestown College last year. The 2009 graduate from Wolf Point High School was named to both the first team all-state and all-conference squads his senior season. He also earned Academic All-State as well his senior year.

Hansen comes to the Pioneers from Paradise Valley HS in Phoenix where the 6-2 guard averaged 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals a contest his senior year. He earned All-Region honors his senior year despite missing five games early in the season for an injury.

He led his team to the 4A Arizona state tournament both his junior and senior years after moving to Phoenix from Nebraska before his junior year. The 6-2 guard led his team in rebounds, assists, and steals this past year. Besides playing basketball for PVHS, Hansen was also on the golf team, qualifying for the state tournament both years.

This past spring, Hansen played for the Arizona Rebels Elite AAU basketball team based in Phoenix. He averaged 14 points in 25 games for the Rebels for the 2010 season.

MCC finished the year 15-17 and earned a berth to the Region IX tournament quarterfinals.
