Miles City, MT - The Miles Community College women’s basketball team has announced that Kate Golovkina will be joining the Pioneers for the 2018-2019 season.
Golovkina is a 5’10” guard from Moscow, Russia. She attended and played her high school basketball at Riverside Carnegie in Riverside, CA
Kate was a member of the League Championship team two years in a row. She averaged 23.2 points per game, 13.5 rebounds per game, 5.1 steals, and 6 assists her senior year. Along with being a standout player on the court, Kate also made her high school honor roll.
Kate is the daughter of Irina Golovkina of Moscow, Russia.
While at MCC, Golovkina plans to work towards a degree in Nutrition.
Kate on attending MCC: “I want to have a great start in my next chapter of my life in both basketball and my education. I want to be prepared for the 4-year university I will go to next.”
Coach Vogel on Golovkina: “Kate is another long, athletic young woman that can play multiple positions for us. She’s another athlete that played Point Guard for her high school team but at 5’10 is comfortable going inside and posting up smaller defenders. We are very fortunate to get a player of Kate’s ability. She had a number of NCAA D1 tryouts but chose MCC to continue her academic and athletic career. She will be a tremendous addition to our basketball family in addition to the MCC and Miles City community.”
