The Pioneers scored seven runs in the first inning, which was just enough to withstand the late comeback efforts of the Cougars. The Pioneers held on to win 9-5.
Kolton Bleggi was the winning pitcher for the Pioneers. He pitched five innings, gave up four runs on eight hits, and struck out three. Chase Linn and Beau Thomas entered the game out of the bullpen to help close out the game in relief.
Braxton Boyle led the Pioneers in hits, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
A big fourth inning, led by a three run RBI triple off the bat of Nate Bloxham, propelled the Pioneers to a 5-4 victory.

The Pioneers had nine hits in the game. Will Riley, James Martin, and Nate Bloxham each had multiple hits in the day. Riley led MCC in hits with three.
With today’s doubleheader victory, the Pioneers have clinched their spot in the postseason. The Pioneer players couldn’t be more excited. Braxton Boyle commented, “I couldn't have done it without my brothers.” Kyhler Thomson was thrilled with the victory, “I turned around and watched Nate make that catch and all my dreams came true!” Kolton Bleggi summed up the Pioneer’s regular season well, commenting, “Growth comes from adversity and we faced a lot...and overcame it all. I'm so proud to be a part of it.”
The Pioneers will finish their series with Western Nebraska tomorrow, with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.
