The Pioneers met nationally ranked Casper College on Friday night for the Final Four game in Casper, WY. MCC got off to a slow start, getting down by eleven points early before battling back with a 14-0 run to take the lead. After a back and forth second quarter, the Pioneers went into halftime with a five point deficit. The Pioneers never regained the lead in the second half, but kept it close. MCC had several chances down the stretch to tie or take the lead, but they couldn’t capitalize. The Pioneers season has come to an end with the 56-60 loss to Casper.
Patrycja Jaworska was the leading scorer with 15 points, followed by Kyra Fleharty with 12. Fleharty led the team in rebounds with 8.
Coach Nate Vogel had an amazing first year as head coach, leading his team to a 25 win season and taking them all the way to the Final Four. Coach Vogel is proud of his team, “A group of young women that had never played together, came together and put together an amazing season. They play so hard. I’m so thankful I was able to coach this group. Great basketball players, but just wait to see the great people that they will become! They are a group that will change the world!”
The Pioneers end the season with a 25-8 overall record, 10-5 in the conference.
