Saturday the Pioneers took on the Generals of Sheridan College. The Generals are currently the 19th ranked team in the country, so the Pioneers knew this was going to be a tough game. Sheridan had control from the beginning taking a 15-point lead into the half. The Pioneers rallied back in the second half to cut the score to 4, but that was as close as they would get. The Generals defeated the Pioneers 84-66. Coach Chase Tait commented on the loss, “I was proud of how we competed. We just simply did not have a good shooting touch out there. We had a lot of energy and the crowd was into the game. We just didn’t convert what I thought were some really good opportunities to make it close down the stretch. It is just really hard to beat a nationally ranked team when you only shoot 37%. Overall, we are playing well right now, but we have a tough week in front of us.”
Jaxon Hinch led the Pioneers in scoring with 14, followed by Andrea LoBiondo with 11. Perion Little led the team in rebounding with 7.
The Pioneers will be home on Wednesday, February 14, as they take on Northwest College at 7:30pm in the Kailey Gymnasium.
