The Pioneers were in Casper, WY on Wednesday evening to take on the Thunderbirds of Casper College. The Pioneers were looking for redemption after losing to the Thunderbirds at home. MCC played a tough game against the #17 team in the nation, even leading the Thunderbirds by 5 at one point. It was a back and forth game until the Pioneers got into foul trouble in the second half and could not overcome the loss of two starters. Casper ended up taking the victory 65-50. Coach Nate Vogel commented on the game, “We were with them the whole game. They hit a half-court buzzer beater to break our tie to end the 3rd quarter and never looked back. Having both Bre and Dakota foul out really hurt us down the stretch.”
Patrycja Jaworska was the high scorer with 13 points, followed by Kyra Fleharty with 10. Bre Moea’i and Kyra Fleharty led the team in rebounds with 7 apiece.
The Pioneers will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 pm when they take on Sheridan College in the Kailey Gymnasium.
