The Pioneers were up for a rematch against Gillette College on Saturday, February 3. The Pronghorns shocked the Pioneers at their previous meeting in Gillette, so the Pioneers were ready for them this time. MCC had control of the game from the start, taking a 54-27 lead into halftime. Once again, the Pioneers played great defense, scoring 25 points off of turnovers. The Pioneers got the victory 85-64 and improve to 20-4 on the season and 6-2 in the conference. Coach Nate Vogel was happy with the victory, “We felt very confident going into this game. We made some adjustments from the last game we played them and they seemed to pay off. There wasn’t a lot of over the top celebrating in the locker room after the game. We have a certain level of expectations for ourselves and after this game we felt like we simply met our expectations. We’re excited to travel to Casper on Wednesday and take on the #19 team in the country.”
Patrycja Jaworska and Bre Moea’i were the high scorers with 16 points each. Kyra Fleharty had another good game, scoring 14.
The Pioneers will take on Casper College on Wednesday, February 7 at 5:30pm, as they head to Casper, WY to try and upset the nationally ranked Thunderbirds.
