The Pioneers started with a win against the Williston State College Tetons after being off since December 9, 2017. The Pioneers started off the game great, but had a little trouble around the half, going from a 2 point lead, to a 10 point deficit. The Pioneers rallied back and eventually took the lead back and had a good handle on the game. Down the stretch, they missed a few key layups, allowing the Tetons a window to get back in the game. However, the Pioneer’s free throw shooting was on point towards the end and the Pioneers came away with the victory 81-76.
Coach Chase Tait was happy with his team’s performance. “I was pleased with our effort after a 1 month layofff from games and playing a little bit short handed. I thought our defensive effort was very good and we were in tune to details and the game plan for the majority of the game and did a good job executing our defensive game plan.”
Andrea LoBiondo was the high scorer and recorded a double double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Perion Little also added a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers will be on the road Wednesday, January 10, as they head to Gillette to take on the nationally ranked Pronghorns of Gillette College.
