LITTLE'S 62 POINT WEEKEND NOT ENOUGH, MCC DROPS 2

It was a rematch weekend for the Pioneers. Friday night MCC looked for a season sweep over the Mystics of Bismarck State College. Turnovers and missed opportunities really hurt the Pioneers. MCC had 27 turnovers and 24 missed layups in the effort. Coach Chase Tait commented, “Once again we didn’t do enough defensively to win and didn’t make game winning plays in the 2nd half. We had our chances and couldn’t get it done.”

Perion Little was the top scorer with a season high 34 points. Erie Olonade added 27 points. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Pioneers fell 113-124.

Saturday, the Pioneers were looking to get revenge for two previous losses against the Thunderbirds of United Tribes Technical College. The Pioneers went into half time with a 16 point lead, but were not able to hold onto it. Sloppy offensive play in the 2nd half allowed the Thunderbirds to get back into the game and eventually take the lead.

Perion Little was, once again, the top scorer with 28. Little’s efforts fell short once again with a 96-101 loss to the Thunderbirds.

“It was a frustrating weekend knowing that we are close but not making the game winning plays that you need to make on the road,” Coach Chase Tait commented about the weekend’s games.

The Pioneers will be home for the “Blue Out” game on Wednesday, December 6 to take on the Buccaneers of Dawson Community College. Tip-off is at 7:30pm. Wear your Pioneer blue!
