Pioneer Women dash to 2-0 on opening weekend

(Miles City, MT) The Lady Pioneers kick started the weekend as the finished the Pioneer Club Invite 2-0 after defeating Rocky Mountain College JV, 81-61 on Friday evening and Bismarck State College 66-61 on Saturday evening.

MCC 81, RMC 61

Sophomore forward Jaycin Tini lead the way for the Lady Pioneers with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Fellow sophomore, Petra Lumpert finished with 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Guard Shelby Weeks added 11 points, with 5 of those coming from the charity stripe.

MCC 66, BSC 61

MCC capped off the weekend with a back and forth contest with the Lady Mystics, prevailing with the 5 point victory. Head Coach Liz Lewis witnessed four players amass double digits in the scoring column, lead by the freshman trio of Kayla Torio, Makiya Givens, and Theresa Dangosu all having 11 points. Givens added 5 steals and 6 rebounds, while Dangosu added 11 rebounds for the victors.

Jaycin Tini chipped in 10 points and snagged 8 rebounds off the bench.

The Pioneers will hit the road for their first road test of the early 2014-2015 season when they head to Williston, ND for the Williston State Tournament, November 7-8. The Ladies will return home to the friendly confines of Kailey Gymnasium Sunday November 9th for a showdown with Salish Kootenai College starting at 12:00 pm.
