McVey joins MCC Women's Basketball

Pioneers add 2nd recruit to 2014-2015 class

Miles City, Mont. – Miles Community College head women’s basketball coach Liz Lewis has announced the signing of Mrysa McVey from Midvale, UT.

Mrysa McVey – 6’0” –F Midvale, UT/ Hillcrest High School

McVey is the daughter of Christian and Jenny McVey and currently attends Hillcrest High School in Midvale Utah. During her time off the court, McVey has been actively involved in clubs and has earned several academic accolades in the classroom. She has been named to the honor roll every semester, earning her academic letters, while being named the 2011 Math Student of the Year. Away from the classroom, she has been participated in the Art Club, Senior Pride Club, and the International Baccalaureate program.

In her senior season for head coach Dave Richardson, McVey averaged a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11.5 rebounds per contest. She averaged 2.7 steals per game, while shooting 75% from the charity stripe.

In 2014, McVey was named 1st Team All-Region and was voted as the basketball team MVP.

While at MCC, McVey plans on working towards her degree in Physical Therapy with an emphasis in Sports Medicine.

“We are thrilled that Mrysa has chosen to be a Pioneer for the 2014-2015 season, said head coach Liz Lewis. Mrysa is a strong inside post player and has a great mid-range shot. She averaged double digits in both points and rebounds her senior year. Mrysa is a quality student who is very involved in her community. We are looking forward to seeing her in Pioneer blue next year.”

McVey will join Haley Ohm from Havre, MT as incoming freshman for the Pioneers next season.
