Pioneer Cowgirls head to Bozeman for 2014 spring opener

The Miles Community College Men's and Women's rodeo teams will head to Bozeman, MT this weekend for the annual Montana State University Spring Rodeo. The Cowboys and Cowgirls of MCC will begin their season inside the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse April 3rd-6th.

Head Coach Wally Badgett and assistant coach Haley Anderson will look to the success of last year's team to build on this season, as they begin the 2014 campaign Thursday evening in Bozeman.

The ladies will be anchored by sophomore Jamie Riley who qualified for the 2013 College National Finals last year in Barrel Racing. She will be joined by veterans Sonnie Gartner (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Kaycee Lee (Breakaway Roping/Barrel Racing), Michelle Lucke (Barrel Racing/Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Danielle Madill (Barrel Racing/Team Roping/Goat Tying), Ava Rankin (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Mandy Newman (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Keli Rooney (Barrel Racing/Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Morgan Russell (Goat Tying), Carlee Schreiner (Barrel Racing), Starly Stocker (Barrel Racing), Bailey Stuart (Barrel Racing), and Tessa Thomas (Barrel Racing).

Newcomers joining the 2014 squad include Matti Birrer (Breakaway Roping), Erica Naillon (Barrel Racing), Kelsey Pierson (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Courtney Rooney (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping), Shanena Saylor (Barrel Racing), and Shelby Thiem (Breakaway Roping/Team Roping).
