Williston State surges past Pioneers

(Williston, ND) The Miles Community College Pioneers finished off their non-conference schedule for the season on Saturday evening and left Williston, ND with a 68-58 set back.

Williston State College overcame a 6 point deficit, eventually taking their largest lead over MCC at 20 with 4:00 minutes remaining on the clock.

MCC couldn't handle the hot shooting from WSC, as the Lady Tetons converted on over 50% of their field goal attempts.

WSC also took advantage of 23 MCC turnovers, and eventually turned those giveaways into 27 points.

Miles CC had three players score in double-figures, led by Petra Lumpert's 15. Ashley Malmquist chipped in 14 points and Shelby weeks added 13 points. Jaycin Tini grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.

MCC dropped their record to 13-13 overall, while remaining 4-8 in Region IX.

The Pioneers will hit the hardwood next, when they travel to Rocky Springs, WY to clash with the Western Wyoming Lady Mustangs on Wednesday, Februray 12th. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
