Miles CC gallops past Pronghorns

Pioneers snap 6 game skid, play at Williston State on Saturday

(Miles City, MT) The Lady Pioneers snapped a six game skid on Wednesday evening as they earned the 71-61 win over the Lady Pronghorns of nearby Gillette, WY.

The win improves Miles CC to 13-12 overall and 4-7 in Region IX play.

Down 10-9 early in the first half, the Pioneers went on a 12-0 run and never looked back, eventually building their lead to 21.

The win was secured from the charity stripe as Miles converted on 24-32 for the game and 13 free throws down the stretch. Jaycin Tini connected on 9-10, while Petra Lumpert was 9-13 from the line.

Tini led the Pioneers offensively with 25 points. Ashley Malmquist recorded a double-double with 19 points, pulling down 11 rebounds. Lumpert added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Pioneers will take their last break from Region IX play when they travel to Williston State College on Saturday, February 8th. The two have met three previous times this year with the Lady Tetons winning two matches. The Pioneers picked up a 65-56 win on January 7th in Miles City. Game time is set for 4:00 pm CST.
