Trappers outlast Lady Pioneers

Finish 2013 season in Powell Dec 13-14

(Powell, WY)- The Trappers of Northwest College erased a ten point halftime deficit to overcome their opponents from Miles Community College on Saturday evening enroute to a 73-67 victory at Cabre gymnasium.

In the first half, the Pioneers shot 53% from the field, including five three point baskets to take a 39-29 lead into the break. The second half was a different story as Miles went cold from the field, shooting only 33%, while NWC shot 42% in the second frame. The Trappers forced 17 Pioneer turnovers and held a slight 34-31 advantage on the boards.

Petra Lumpert played 40 minutes on her way to 23 points and 6 rebounds. Her freshman confidant, Jaycin Tini also contributed 40 minutes as she poured in 13 points, while grabbing 9 rebounds. Tess Blaquiere chipped in 17 points as the Pioneers move into non conference action and the holiday break at 8-5 overall and 1-2 in Region IX.

Miles CC returns to Powell for the First Bank of Wyoming Shootout this weekend as they take on a Northwest All-Star team @ 1:30 pm on Friday. They conclude the first half of their season and 2013 campaign, as they play the WYMT All-Stars @ 11:00 am on Saturday morning.
