Miles CC Women sweep in Bismarck

(Bismarck, ND) The Lady Pioneers of Miles Community College continued their early season success as they won both of their contests at the Warren Arman Memorial Classic. MCC cruised past United Tribes Technical College on Friday afternoon 80-43 and was victorious in the nightcap against Bismarck State College Saturday evening, 72-62.

New Zealand forward Jaycin Tini poured in 23 points and added 12 rebounds in the win. Tess Blaquiere (Miles City, MT) and Petra Lumpert (Jesenice, Slovenia) added 10 points respectively and Ashley Malmquist (Three Forks, MT) chipped in 13 points to go along with 8 rebounds.

Miles held a 54-27 rebound margin and was able to convert on 15-18 attempts from the charity stripe.

Miles 72, BSC 62

Trailing 37-34 at halftime, MCC surged past the Lady Mystics in the second half outscoring them 38-25 behind 19 points from Blaquiere and 18 more from Lumpert. Ashley Hildreth (Riverton, UT) chipped in with 11 points on 3 three 's. Tini added 14 points and 9 boards off the bench.

MCC (5-1 overall) continue the 2013-2014 season as they open up Region IX play Thursday November 21 against Central Wyoming. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm inside Kailey Gymnasium.

The weekend continues November 22-23 as they host the Pioneer Booster Club Invite. The Pioneers face Lake Region State College Friday at 5:30 and conclude the tournament when the host Williston State College at 4:00 pm on Saturday.
