MCC Women drop game @ Gillette

(Gillette, WY)- The MCC women’s basketball team fell behind early, and couldn’t catch up as they fell on the road to the Gillette College Lady Pronghorns (21-4 overall, 8-3 Region IX) 79-67. The win closed out a season series sweep by the Pronghorns over the Pioneers, while MCC dropped their record to 14-10 overall, 4-7 Region IX.

Taylor Lepley (Shepherd, MT), Ivana Grbic (Belgrade, Serbia), and Janae Reynen (Culbertson, MT) each poured in 7 points respectively. Grbic added 7 boards to go along with 7 dimes. The Pioneers were led by Tessa Rouane (Columbus, MT) who was 2-6 from long distance and finished with a team high 20 points.

The Lady Pioneers return home to face the Casper College Lady Thunderbirds (18-6 overall, 8-4 Region IX) Saturday February, 9th at 3:00 pm. Casper won the first meeting 71-60. MCC will have to defend if they want to avenge their earlier season loss. “We will have to defend better and play sound discipline defense in order to beat Casper” MCC Head Coach Cathy Hanek said. “We will have to be aggressive on the boards and take away second chance opportunities, and obviously take care of the ball”.
