Women Split in Home Tournament

Defeat Jamestown JV

(Miles City, MT) – In the Miles Community College Classic, the women’s team came out of the weekend with a split as they defeated Jamestown College JV 75-60 and then loss to Williston State College 48-65.

On Friday, the women had three players in double figures as they defeated Jamestown in the first day of the MCC Classic.  Sophomore Ivana Grbic (Belgrade, Serbia) scored a game-high 19 points on 9-of-15 from the floor.  Tessa Rouane (Columbus) and Taylor Lepley (Shepherd) finished the game with 16 and 11 points, respectively.  The team shot 41 percent from the floor in the win. 

MCC dominated the paint outscoring the Lady Jimmies 48-10 and outrebounding them 53-38.  Rouane pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the victory.  The rebounding advantage for the Lady Pioneers helped MCC outscore their opponent 11-4 in second chance points. 

On Saturday, for as much as MCC dominated Jamestown Friday night, it was the reverse for the Lady Pioneers on Saturday against the Lady Tetons.  Miles struggled from the field against the size of WSC, shooting just 31 percent from the field.  Dragana Vukovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was the lone player in double figures for the home team, scoring just 10 points in the loss. 

Williston dominated the paint outscoring Miles 28-18.  Grbic led MCC with a team-high seven rebounds. 

Up next for MCC is the first Region IX contest of the year as they travel to Glendive to face Dawson Community College tonight.
