MCC's Grbic Signs With Eckerd College

Sophomore forward averaging 13 points

(Miles City, MT) – Miles Community College’s Ivana Grbic (Belgrade, Serbia) has signed a National Letter-of-Intent with Eckerd College to continue her playing career after this season.  The 5’11” sophomore forward is currently averaging 13 points and over seven rebounds per contest for Lady Pioneers in just four games.

“We are thrilled about Ivana joining Eckerd College next fall,” said Paul Honsinger, Eckerd’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  “We’ve followed her for the last couple of years, even while in Serbia, and give her ton of credit for staying in touch with us over the years.”

As a freshman, she averaged 10 points and six rebounds and started 25 out of the 30 games.  In just her second collegiate game, she scored a career high 24 points against Jamestown College JV.  On back-to-back nights in January she put up 20 and 19 points against Western Wyoming Community College and Williston State College, respectively.

“It’s been a pleasure watching her mature as a player at Miles over the year,” added Honsinger.

Eckerd College is an NCAA Division II institution out of St. Petersburg, FL and a member of the Sunshine State Conference.  Last season the Lady Tritons finished with a 15-11 overall record and 8-8 in the SSC.  Honsinger, a former player at Eckerd College, is entering his seventh season at the helm of the women’s program.  In 2009, he was named the conference coach-of-the-year, the first one since 1986.
