MCC Women Finish 2nd, Men 3rd in UM-Western Rodeo

(Miles City, MT) – The Miles Community College men’s and women’s rodeo team finished the fall edition of their schedule with their best showing of the 2012 season.  The women’s team placed second, just 35 points behind the host school the University of Montana – Western while the men finished third behind Western and Montana State University.

The women’s team was led by Jamie Riley (Crow Agency) who came out on top in barrel racing this past weekend.  Her time of 36.25 seconds was just two one-hundredths faster than the second place finisher.  With the win, Riley moves into third place in the regional standings to wrap up the fall schedule.  Randa Ross (Colstrip) finished in second place in the breakaway roping event and currently sits in eighth place in the standings.

In the men’s rodeo, MCC showed returned to dominance in saddle bronc as they swept the top three spots with Dillon Schroth (Buffalo Gap, SD) outscoring his brother Travis by just five points.  Ian Fugere (Belfield, ND) finished in third just eight points out of the top spot.  Justin Miller (Billings) made his debut of the fall after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the summer’s College National Finals Rodeo.  He completed a ride in bareback for a score of 72 points to earn him sixth place in the event. 

MCC’s men team currently sits in fourth place in the standings while the women are standing in sixth place.  The teams are now off until they return to the rodeo grounds this spring.
